TOE READING! Do you want to know what's going on?

Here is a wonderful article from a reflexologist.  She outlines some of the basics of toe reading.  If you want to know what's going on look to your feet?

Harmonics of Healing

Harmonics of Healing is this weekend!!!

In another chapter of my life I trained people how to best use their telephone systems.  Delighting in travelling across North America for the company I worked for, I enjoyed sharing the technologies of communication.

Little did I know it would be a constant in the book of my life!

Now, you may be wondering what this has to do with SWC or reflexology.  Truth is, our body is a communication tool for our spirit and wellness.  Our body tells us a lot about us in a way many of us aren’t used to.

So, the moment I accepted the invitation to share my expertise for Harmonics of Healing, my trainer hat went on.  I’m delighted to share what I have learned about the subtle communication of bodies.  Learning to translate YOUR body language! is what I intend to enrich what you already know; focusing on the following points:

What is your body telling you?

  • How do you translate?
  • What’s next…how do I change things?

Please come and learn from YOU, some of the most basic communication ever created.  We’re geared for our survival and ultimately, our wellness.

I hope to see you there!

Drinking water: Cold water vs. Warm Water the debate.

While there is always a lot of discussion around is it more beneficial to drink Cold water vs drinking Warm water there is a common consensus that drinking water for your health is essential.

Here is an analysis that I have found from research and put together for you.

Cold Water

Cold water burns calories because the body needs to heat up the water in order to use it.  8 glasses of cold water burns 70 calories.

Cold water is less hydrating as the cold water causes the blood vessels surrounding the stomach to shrink thereby slowing absorption.

Cold water brings down your body temperature faster after a workout or exercise.

Warm Water

Warm water hydrates because the body better as it causes less constriction of the blood vessels in the body.

Warm water is better for digestion because it does not cause the fats from the foods you have eaten or are eating to solidify thereby allowing the body to more easily digest and disperses the unwanted fats from the body.

Warm water is healthy in the morning as it helps to flush the kidneys and help with bowel movements.

Warm water stimulates the glands of the stomach and prepares the stomach for food.  After a meal warm water detoxifies and improves digestion.

Warm water is better when you have a fever because as the body naturally heats up to destroy the virus in the body, drinking hot water will help the body to not have work as hard.  It will also prevent you from getting shivers.

So you decide but please stay hydrated even in the winter and drink water.

More later on how to make water healthier and taste better……

Feel good again, drink your water.

ME time, is it really out there?

Can’t afford the time or the money to travel…where can YOU go to relax and feel good again this winter?

After the expense of Christmas and the onset of a cold winter many people wish they could escape to some sunshine and heat to beat the winter blues.  However if you’re like many you have the reality of the visa bill to pay off, the work to catch up on and the dark mornings to try to wake up in.

How do YOU escape to feel good again?  Is there anything YOU can do….

YES!

The first thing that needs to be done is to admit and address your stressors!

1/ MONEY!  Get the bills out and face them.  Don’t ignore it hoping it will go away, it won’t!  Take a half hour and make a plan to start paying down the highest interest card first and set in motion a payment strategy so you can feel good again.  The goal here first and foremost is to be able to sleep without waking up in fear of the debt.  Decide if you can cut out a latte or two each week to relieve some of the financial stress to make you feel good again.

2/ WEIGHT GAIN! Acknowledge that there are only 24 hours in each day!  If you are feeling stress and not feeling good because you’ve gained a few pounds over the holidays, get on the scales and face it.  Make two columns one of the tasks you have to do each day and one for what you’d like to do.  Find a half hour a day or every other day to reach your “what you’d like to do” list.  Walk on the treadmill, walk outside, do some stretching, do some yoga.  Do something in a half hour to make you feel good again.

3/ COMMITMENTS! Declare a time and place in your home as a work free, family free YOU zone.  Arrange for your husband to take the kids out one night a week for some one on one time, arrange for a friend to visit your mom or dad in their home to inspire some conversation, arrange for YOU to take the dog out for a walk once a week so you can be by yourself and feel good again.

So how do you escape when you can’t afford to go south or you can’t afford to leave your family and job…..

Be by yourself somewhere, outdoors, in a bathtub, in bed or with a book!  If it were important enough or should I say if YOU thought you were important enough you’d find and make the time to escape so you could feel good again.  You’d run to help a friend if they had a problem to deal with and asked for your help!  Now do it for yourself, YOU deserve to feel good again!

Is it just too simple?

Is it just too simple??

A lot of people at the beginning of a new year take a look at their lives, their habits and their lot in life and decide on some things to change for the better.  Health is usually one of the areas that get a lot of attention.  It always seems that the gyms get busier in January, the diet book sales go up in January and the commitments to oneself increase in January.

Water, water everywhere!  But not a drop to drink or what I’ve heard is “but I don’t feel like any.”

We’ve all heard the recommendations, drink 8 glasses of water a day or drink half your body weight in ounces of water.

Our body parts, organs, muscles, skin, everything is comprised of up to 80% of water.

We are blessed to be in a country where water is in abundance and really we have our choices of types of water.  Filtered, spring, tap, bottled, flavoured….so many choices.  But that’s another day’s topic!

For the most part if you are willing to drink tap water you don’t have to pay extra for the privilege of being able to drink water and stay hydrated.  Let’s call this free for the sake of the article.

So it’s free, it’s abundant, it’s readily available and our bodies need it to be healthy!  Is it just too simple that we believe if we don’t have to pay big money for it, or don’t have to fight for the right to have it or we aren’t sick enough to require a drip line to replenish our bodies with it, we can ignore it?

As we try to figure out how to simplify our lives in 2012, save more money, and be healthier what will it take to make us understand that by drinking more water, more often we can be healthier, richer and it’s that simple!

Sometimes when something is so simple and right in front of our eyes we don’t see it or the value.  Perhaps we just need to stop for a moment and ask ourselves can I improve my life by drinking water which is healthy, readily available and doesn’t need to cost me any extra if I don’t want it to?

Is water on your list of to do items for 2012?  It should be.    It’s really that simple!
